Websites built for painters.

Someone comparing painters is usually not in a hurry the way a burst pipe makes someone hurry — they are collecting two or three quotes over a week or two, and deciding partly on the photos. Your website’s job is to make your finished work easy to see fast. We build it first, from what is already public about you, and then give it to you. It costs nothing to have and nothing to keep.

What people are actually searching for

“Painter [suburb] quote”, “interior painter near me”, “exterior house painter”: these searches are less urgent than a trade emergency, but they are more visual. Before someone calls, they scroll a few photos and decide whether the standard of work looks like their kind of job.

That changes what the website is for. It is not there to explain painting. It is there so the first thing anyone sees is a clean, recent photo of finished work — a wall that looks straight, a trim line that looks sharp — because that is the only evidence a stranger has to go on.

The trust signal most painter websites leave out

Painting is not a licensed trade under the Building Act the way plumbing or electrical work is, so there is no single register to point people at. Two things carry real weight instead. Membership of the NZ Master Painters Association is a genuine accreditation, not a paid directory listing, and it is worth naming if you hold it. And if you work on homes built before 1980, mentioning that you follow WorkSafe’s guidance on lead paint tells a careful homeowner you know a real risk exists and take it seriously.

Most people hiring a painter have no trade knowledge to judge you by. A clear photo of the actual finished job, next to a plain statement of how you handle an old house safely, does more work than a paragraph about your company history.

What it costs

Nothing. We build the page from what is already public about your business and send you the link. If you want it, we put it live and you pay us nothing for it. There is no card, no trial, and no fee that starts later. It sits at an address of ours, not your own domain name, and it carries one line at the bottom saying we built it.

It asks one thing of you. Once a year we send one message asking whether the details are still right, and two reminders over the month after it. If we cannot reach you, the page comes down — a page with your name and a wrong phone number on it is worse for you than no page at all. It also comes down when you ask, for any reason or none, within five New Zealand working days at the latest, and we will not ask you why.

The only thing you can pay for is changes made for you. You message us a new price, new hours, a holiday closure or a photo of the new van, and we make the change, within five New Zealand working days at the latest. That is NZ$299 for the year, and it includes your own domain name registered in your business name and email on it. No monthly fee, no minimum term, and it does not renew itself. No GST is added. The full terms are here.

If somebody else would suit you better — and for plenty of painters they would — we have listed every option we could find, with the price each company publishes on its own site: who should build your website.

Built from what is already public

We build the first version of your page from your Google Business Profile, your Facebook page, and anything else already public about your business, then send you the link. You look at it before anything happens. If you do not want it we take it down, you owe nothing, and we will not contact you about it again.

If you have not claimed your Google Business Profile yet, Photos of finished work matter more for a painter than for almost any other trade, because it is the one thing a stranger can actually judge before they call. The walkthrough is here: how to claim your Google Business Profile in New Zealand.

Being straight with you: we build and host the website, not your Google Business Profile, because that needs a verified New Zealand address and we are not in New Zealand. The walkthrough above covers the whole process yourself; it takes about twenty minutes and it is free.

Common questions

Should my painting website mention Master Painters membership or lead paint?

Yes to both, if they apply. Master Painters Association membership is a real accreditation, not a marketing word, and it is worth naming. If you work on pre-1980 homes, saying you follow WorkSafe’s lead paint guidance tells a careful homeowner you take a real risk seriously.

What should a painter’s website actually say?

Your trade, the towns you cover, a phone number that gets answered, and recent photos of finished work. A gallery does more than a paragraph about your company history.

Does this work for decorators and plaster repair too?

Yes. Interior and exterior painting, decorating, and small plaster or wallpaper repair sit close enough together in how people search and choose that the same page structure works for all of them.

I already have a Facebook page. Do I need a website as well?

For a lot of trades, a Facebook page covers most of what people need day to day. What it does not do well is show up when someone searches your trade and town on Google rather than on Facebook, and it can look less permanent to someone checking you out before they call. We wrote the comparison up properly here: Facebook page or website, for a New Zealand trade business. If you are not showing up in a search at all — not even for your own business name — here is why, in the order it usually happens.

How fast can I see mine?

Send us your business name and the town. We will tell you honestly whether we can build one, and if we can, we email you the link to look at. There is nothing to pay at any point for the page itself.

Not a painter? See the same approach for plumbers, electricians, builders, roofers, landscapers, auto electricians, plasterers, scaffolders, fencing contractors, gardeners and lawn care businesses, handyman businesses, tilers, concreters, gutter cleaning businesses, pest control businesses, locksmiths and glaziers.

Based in a main centre? See the same approach for businesses in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Hamilton, or see every trade and city.

Ask us to build yours.

Send us your business name and the town. We will tell you honestly whether we can build one — this is one person, so we cannot build for everyone who asks. Either way there is nothing to pay.
